Our Current/Ongoing Campaigns and Work are:
- To work with First Great Western, Network Rail and the DfT
to ensure that we are not downgraded as a station due to
electrification terminating at Newbury. See our
Electrification page for more information.
- To have the inbound and outbound trains associated such that
when a train is delayed, or cancelled, into Bedwyn the train
that forms the next outbound service is duly reported as delayed
or cancelled.
- To have short notice cancellations are properly announced at
the station.
- To feed into the current Network Rail Route Utilisation
activities. Read our input at
Bedwyn Trains RUS Response and our
Response to the
Final
Network Rail Report
To get a service suitable for a 0900 start in Thatcham,
Theale and Reading. We lost this in the December 2006 timetable
changes. This can be achieved by either (i) The 0756 weekday Bedwyn departure to be right through to
Reading or (ii) a stop on the 0722 Pewsey departure or the 0756
Newbury to Reading departure to start at 0740 from Bedwyn and be
right through to Reading.
An additional direct service to London Paddington between
0700 and 0800 weekdays. We lost this in the December 2006
timetable changes.
The provision of a commuter service west, preferably direct
to Exeter, to serve Reading, Theale, Thatcham, Newbury, Kintbury,
Hungerford, Bedwyn and Pewsey.
Improved punctuality and reliability.
Improved holding of trains at Newbury,
or additional services from Newbury, if the incoming London
connection is delayed.
Improved bus link with Marlborough.
Ticket sellers on more trains.
Proper passenger counting so we appear in our correct
position in the league table of stations.
Improved station signage for
westbound travel.
We are working with the local councils to find ways of
providing additional parking at the station.
